Cummins Turbo Diesel Information

6.7L Cummins® Turbo Diesel
Strong Performance, Clean and Quiet Operation and Outstanding Durability
The Cummins Turbo Diesel pulls off the line with its 650 pound-feet of torque, and it holds that power from 1,500 rpm right through to 2,800 rpm. That’s the kind of impressive performance that commands respect. And, it’s only available on Ram. So, chalk up a clean “win” for you and your customers.
In fact, Ram 3500 is the only vehicle in its class to provide a standard diesel.

6.7L Cummins® Turbo Diesel  Cummins® Diesel Exhaust Brake
The Cummins Variable Geometry Turbocharger (VGT) not only contributes to impressive emissions control, it also provides exhaust braking.
- Restricts the flow of exhaust
- Causes the engine to slow down
- Provides additional braking, contributing to:
- Reduced brake fade
- Longer brake life
- Quicker cab warm-up
- Value — not offered on Chevy, Ford, GMC
- Aftermarket installation: approx. $1,000-$1,200
The VGT Turbocharger by Cummins Turbo Technologies features a unique patented one-piece sliding nozzle which moves continuously to vary the power of the turbine and the amount of air delivered to the engine. Because of Cummins unique design, it has proven to be the most reliable VGT  Turbocharger in the world.
A solenoid switch activates the sliding nozzle inside the Variable Geometry Turbo to restrict the flow of exhaust. This slows down the engine by making it work much harder to pump out the exhaust. The benefits? With nearly 70% of heavy-duty pickup buyers towing or hauling loads, controlling those loads while going downhill is very important. The exhaust brake provides added braking performance to keep that vehicle and load under  control when descending steep hills and during emergency stopping.
When you combine the exhaust brake with Electronic Range Select, the driver has very precise control over the speed of the vehicle; which contributes to both safety and driving confidence.  There’s also the matter of reduced brake fade and longer brake life.

 6.7L Cummins® Turbo Diesel 6.7L Cummins® Turbo Diesel Transmissions
The 6.7L Cummins Turbo Diesel engine can be paired with either a six-speed manual or a six-speed automatic.
The manual transmission features an ultra-low first-gear ratio that appeals to owners who may do a lot of off-road work, for instance, on a muddy construction site and in agricultural applications. The automatic features an additional overdrive ratio, providing increased fuel economy and reduced engine noise at highway speeds.  The first and reverse gear ratios still provide solid towing capability.
G56 6-Speed Manual
- Ultra-low first-gear ratio
- Double cone synchronizers for high capacity and long-term durability
- Gear system is hard-finished to extreme standards 68RFE Automatic
- Increased fuel economy with second overdrive ratio
- Reduced engine noise with second overdrive
- Smooth, quick shifts with part-throttle management
With either the six-speed manual or available six-speed automatic, the Cummins Turbo Diesel gives customers  complete mastery and control over any towing and hauling demands.
